SICILY. Syracuse. Deinomenid Tyranny, 485-466 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15 mm, 4.30 g, 12 h), circa 485-470. Nude horseman riding to right. Rev. ΣVRAKOΣION Pearl-diademed head of Arethousa to right, her hair drawn up at the back and wearing pearl necklace; all within shallow circular incuse. Boehringer 281 (O130/R194). Boston MFA 352 (same dies). HGC 2, 1360. SNG ANS 95 (same reverse die). SNG Lockett 912 (same dies). Lightly toned. Somewhat porous, otherwise, good very fine.
